Rod Roberts, Bereavement Counselor and Camp Forget-Me-Not Director, began retirement today, 8/8/2024, after facilitating the 52nd Kids Camp Forget-Me-Not yesterday, 8/7/2024. Rod has served our communities with dedication and compassion for 27 years and we are so grateful for all of his guidance throughout the years.
From the desk of Rod Roberts:
“The beat goes on. Our 52nd camp for grieving children and teens was held yesterday at Riverside School in Oneonta. Again this venue came through (at no expense to us) for a great place to hold a camp. The fourteen campers representing nine families displayed courage and kindness in their grief journey by sharing with others the true nature of their grief.
A fantastic staff lead by our two seasoned and expert healing circle leaders Lori Solensten and Soraya Mostert lead the way for the campers to normalize their situation and process difficult material. Amber Dudley, our Camp RN went well beyond nursing in her nurturing of the campers while handling the minor boo-boos that were incurred.
Pat Bachman did a great job in leading our parent/guardian group, providing education and specific feedback to parents/guardians. Meghan Saggese excelled as Recreation Director adding needed fun to sandwich the healing circles. Sue Jacobsen, our long-time volunteer, was great in supporting the campers and helping out in many ways. Our intern Glenn got a good education at the camp and connected well with both campers and camper family members.
I want to thank all those in Helios Care that supported this camp in any way and supported this program in the past. Without you all it does not happen.
Our children are our future. We hope we have made that future better through our efforts. Thank you all.
The beat still goes on!!
Rod”
The team at Helios Care would like to thank Rod for 27 years of extraordinary service and dedication to the patients and families served by our organization, and for being the Best Team Captain of Camp Forget-Me-Not!
