Take the First Step on National Healthcare Decisions Day
Have you ever thought about the care that you would like to receive when the time comes? If you were unable to speak for yourself, what would you like to tell your loved ones and your healthcare provider? It’s an uncomfortable thought, but these are decisions that we all deserve to make for ourselves.
April 16th is National Healthcare Decisions Day, a day to encourage conversations about your healthcare wishes and decisions through the end of life. Advance care planning ensures that your voice is heard, even when you are not able to communicate, and helps to give your family peace of mind during a difficult time. There are simple and powerful planning tools to help you begin.
How to Start:
- Think about what matters most to you. How do you want to be treated?
- Start conversations with your loved ones. Talking with your loved ones can help answer questions and give you a better understanding of what your wishes are.
- Fill out your Five Wishes. It’s simple and easy to use! Having a plan in place brings you one step closer to peace of mind.
Start your own Five Wishes document, a user-friendly, legally accepted form in most states that considers all medical, personal, emotional and spiritual needs that may apply to your wishes. Helios Care can help you understand and use this resource.
