Dr. Ben Friedell named 2024 Compassionate Care award winner!
Helios Care is proud to announce that the 2nd Annual Dr. Yoshiro Matsuo Compassionate Care Award winner has been named for 2024. The award, which honors individuals who embody the same dedication to compassionate care, leadership and selfless service as Dr. Matsuo, had numerous worthy nominees this year, making the selection process especially challenging for the committee.
We are proud to name Dr. Ben Friedell of Oneonta as this year’s winner and would like to note his remarkable contribution to our community. Dr. Friedell is the founder of the Oneonta Community Health Center, a free clinic to those who need the service, and he still serves as a practicing physician in our area. He was chosen from an exceptional group of nominees from all three of our service area counties and all working in a myriad of disciplines: Dr. Carol Beechy, Casey Beers, Maryanne Calkins, Kaler Carpenter, Amber Dudley, Amethyst Noel Gardner, Connie Jastremski, Maggie Johnson, Paula Johnson, Kristin Kulow, Carole and Michael LaChance, Marianne Meo, Carrie Sargent, Nancy Starkweather, Jamie Taggart, Jessica Weeden, and Jennifer Woertendyke.
Dr. Friedell will be honored at the Helios Care Rock and Roll Revue concert, taking place at Foothills PAC in Oneonta on Saturday, October 19th. The show will begin at 7pm, but join us beforehand to honor Dr. Friedell. The show will feature local artists, including John Thompson and the Elusive Gems band, The Roundhouse Rockers, The Mopar Cams, Doug Decker, Shari Gage, Tom Pondolfino, Mary Frances Perricone, and Eric Haight- playing classic hits from the 50s through 70s! The Elusive Gems will be joined on stage by the individual artists to rock the house; bring your dancing shoes!
Soda Jerks will be there to serve diner staples, including burgers and sliders. There will be a silent auction throughout the event and cake will be served at intermission to honor Dr. Friedell!
Advance tickets are $20 and can be purchased online at helioscare.org/events/ until Saturday at 12pm. Tickets will be $25 on the day-of. All proceeds benefit the patients and their families of Delaware, Otsego and Schoharie counties.
