At Helios Care, our mission is simple but deeply meaningful: to make life easier for patients and
families facing serious illness or the end of life. For more than 40 years, we have provided
comfort, dignity, and expert care to our neighbors across Otsego, Delaware, and Schoharie
counties.
We began as Catskill Area Hospice and Palliative Care, a small organization with a big heart and
a clear purpose, to ensure that no one faces the end of life alone. Over time, our name and our
scope evolved. Today, Helios Care represents warmth, and compassion, reflecting the strength
and hope we strive to bring into every home and every patient’s journey.
Our purpose is to bring comfort, dignity, and peace to every individual and family we serve. We
walk beside people during some of life’s most difficult moments, helping them find comfort and
meaning along the way.
Helios Care offers a full continuum of services including:
Hospice Care: Skilled, compassionate care for individuals nearing the end of life and
their families.
Palliative Care: Specialized medical support for those living with serious illness,
focused on symptom management and quality of life.
Grief Support: Counseling, support groups, and community programs for adults and
children coping with loss. Partnerships with Office of the Aging, Alzheimer’s
Association, local schools and healthcare organizations.
Our programs are sustained through Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance, and generous
community giving. Contributions from individuals, foundations, and local businesses ensure that
care is never denied due to financial limitations. We are proud to partner with hospitals, long-
term care facilities, physician practices, and faith communities to provide coordinated,
compassionate care across all settings.
Each year, Helios Care serves more than 800 patients and families int the three counties we
serve, offering comfort, expertise, and compassion during life’s most difficult times.
Additionally, hundreds more benefit from grief counseling, education, and community outreach
programs.
Helios Care’s mission is strengthened by more than 100 dedicated volunteers, from families,
community members, employees and Board of Directors, made up of committed community
leaders, provides governance and strategic direction to ensure that Helios Care continues to grow
and serve with excellence.
Helios Care is more than a hospice; it’s a philosophy of care that focuses on living fully until
life’s natural end. Through innovation, compassion, and deep community connection, Helios
Care ensures every person receives care that honors their dignity, values, and wishes.

As the healthcare landscape continues to evolve, Helios Care is navigating familiar challenges,
workforce shortages, increasing regulatory demands, and the rising cost of care, while staying
steadfast in its mission to serve every family in need. These challenges, however, present
opportunities for strategic growth and innovation.
Helios Care is expanding access to palliative care, investing in workforce development, and
strengthening partnerships with regional healthcare providers to ensure seamless transitions of
care. The organization is also focused on engaging the next generation of volunteers and
community advocates, fostering a culture of compassion and sustainability.
Our future depends on our ability to adapt, collaborate, and innovate. By strengthening our
partnerships and expanding our reach, Helios Care is positioning itself to meet the growing needs
of our communities, today and for decades to come.
